Conscious Legal Minds

Laura Mahr, Esq. is the founder of Conscious Legal Minds LLC, providing mindfulness-based resilience coaching, training, and consulting for attorneys and support staff nationwide. Laura’s cutting edge work to build resilience to burnout, stress, and vicarious trauma in the practice of law--public interest law in particular--is informed by 11 years of practice as a civil sexual assault attorney. Laura also incorporates two decades of experience as an educator and professional trainer, 25 years as a student and teacher of mindfulness and yoga, and a love of neuroscience. Formerly as a staff attorney at the Victim Rights Law Center (VRLC), Laura provided training and technical assistance to the US Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) programs on how to use the civil legal system to respond to sexual assault survivors’ needs, specializing in migrant farmworkers, women experiencing homelessness, and LGBTQ communities. At the request of the US Navy, Laura delivered one of the first-ever trainings on responding to LGBT survivors of sexual assault in the military. Prior to joining the VRLC, Laura coordinated the Oregon Law Center Farmworker Program’s Project Against Workplace Sexual Assault. There, she provided holistic legal representation to Latin@ and indigenous farmworker victims of workplace-related sexual violence. consciouslegalminds.com
