Allies Against Slavery

AJ Smith is a technologist, survivor leader, and advocate working at the intersection of technology, data, and anti-exploitation efforts. She serves as a Senior DevOps Engineer for an organization addressing food insecurity and as a Data Analyst with Allies Against Slavery, supporting data-driven strategies to combat human trafficking and strengthen survivor-informed responses across systems.

Drawing from both lived experience and technical expertise, AJ focuses on technology-facilitated abuse, including digital surveillance, coercive control through connected devices, and emerging risks posed by artificial intelligence and synthetic media. Her work emphasizes survivor-informed technology practices, professional training for service providers and first responders, and trauma-aware responses to digital exploitation.

AJ maintains a minimal public digital footprint, reflecting the digital safety principles she advocates in an era where personal data and imagery can be easily weaponized.
