Ashley Staggers is a Policy Associate with Rights4Girls, a national human rights organization dedicated to ending gender-based violence against young women and girls in the United States. Rights4Girls focuses on addressing the criminalization of young girls experiencing gender-based violence, coining the term “The Sexual Abuse to Prison Pipeline,” exposing the direct link between sexual abuse survivors and criminalization. A survivor of child sex abuse herself, Ashley additionally is conducting research alongside the Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) on the prevalence of sexual violence illiteracy and its connection to unacknowledged sexual victimization. She is passionate about addressing the dangerous normalization of sexual violence and violence against women. Ashley sits on the World Without Exploitation Youth Coalition, is the current Miss City of New York; gaining the title underneath a platform of wanting to address the pervasiveness of sexual violence, and has submitted personal testimony to state legislatures as well as to U.S. House and Senate committees.
